Now, a 96-year-old U.S. Marine who was wounded during the battle is releasing a song about it.Gene Christie will never forget landing on Iwo Jima on February 19, 1945. In an hour and a half, they killed 2,000 of my Marines, said Christie.Iwo Jima was one of the deadliest and most infamous battles of World War II. They came ashore and 30 days later, they were no more, said Christie.Christie says it was 30 days of fighting, killing and dying.
