| Twice a 12 months, the Joint Combined Exchange Training (JCET) program holds a multinational training exercise. Because the ship was towed down the Anacostia River to the Potomac River, a Washington, D.C., fireboat saluted her with a water cannon display, and Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling played the U.S. Millennium Challenge 2002 (MC02) was a major conflict sport exercise performed by the United States Armed Forces below United States Joint Forces Command in mid-2002, running from 24 July to 15 August. All arms had been recalled to the ship in the course of the night to begin the meeting of the ship in preparation for deployment as an ASW display screen ship for the Marine Landing Battalion stationed off the Suez in response to the Soviet naval buildup through the Arab-Israeli war. A formal departure ceremony for the ship hosted by Naval Support Activity Washington, attended by greater than 50 former Barry crew members and that includes a speech by retired Rear Admiral Sam Cox, director of the Naval History and Heritage Command, happened on 17 October 2015 in the Cold War gallery at the Washington Navy Yard.
