Every year, the exercise is held in a unique location, usually in British Columbia. The brigade group is made of roughly 1,500 soldiers in reserve units in communities throughout British Columbia. Third Forward Area Air Defense (FAAD) Battery (−) was commissioned as an unbiased command within Marine Air Control Group 38 on 8 March 1982 following third FAAD Platoon's detachment from Marine Air Support Squadron three the previous day. These two models are a part of the Royal Canadian Medical Service and 1 Health Services Group. Members of the unit who participated in stated actions are allowed to wear on their uniforms the awarded unit quotation. The twenty sixth MEU also supported Operation Restore Hope off the coast of Somalia and participated in continued operations in Bosnia. The 26th MEU served as the primary tactical unit for Joint Task Force Liberia throughout Operation Sheltering Sky from August to September 2003 in the Second Liberian Civil War. In 1991 the twenty sixth MEU supported Operation Desert Shield by providing a "Show of Force" within the Mediterranean, and participated in Operation Sharp Edge, a non-combatant evacuation operation of Liberia.
