That s what one Baltimore City Correctional Officer is working to do through charitable giving.Sharhonda Gee is well known throug stanley tumblers hout Central Booking not just for her 12-years as a correctional officer, but also for her willingness to go above and beyond to make a difference. Over the years and countless charitable projects, her colleagues dubbed her the  Mother Teresa  of Central Booking. That s all because of her desire to help others. I wanted to curve the view of corrections, stanley shop   said Gee.  It s not always bad. We do a lot of good. Whether it be helping to feed Baltimore s homeless population or providing Christmas gifts for children in need, when Officer Gee sees a need, she does what she can to help. The program will divert residents from encounters with police, and instead, connect them with the help they need. This will also increase the department s capacit stanley cup y to respond to other calls. Behavioral health crises present challenges to law enforcement that we cannot successfully mitigate alone,  said Police Chief Melissa Hyatt.  While law enforcement is a critical component to the partnership, the goal of our police department is to get the most appropriate resources to individuals in crisis as soon as possible. The one-year behavioral health expansion pilot program will cost $1.6 million. It will be federally funded.
