After the standard month of relative inactivity following an overseas deployment, Anchorage began west coast operations early in August with a courtesy go to to Seattle, Washington, for the town's annual sea fair. She stopped at Naha, Okinawa, from 10 to 12 June after which returned to sea for the voyage again to the United States. The trip house included a two-day stop at Pearl Harbor and ended back at San Diego on 3 July. The usual cease at Pearl Harbor lasted from 20 September to 2 October, after which Anchorage resumed the voyage west. She stopped at Pearl Harbor from the 26th to the 28th and arrived in Del Mar, Calif., on 3 September 1985. The next day, Anchorage moved to Long Beach the place she started a 5-week submit-deployment stand-down.
