HELENAOn Saturday, more than 100 fifth- through eighth-grade girls from around Montana got hands-on experiences in science, technology, engineering and math in Helena.ExplorationWorks held its seventh annual Girls STEM Roundup at Carroll College. We want girls to be exposed to a wide range of STEM careers 鈥?not just scientist and biologist, but also what is it like to be a mathematician, an en adidas samba gineer, and how they all work together,said ExplorationWorks executive director Kelly Posewitz.The event began with a keynote address from Marissa Goerke, a mechanical engineer who works as a research associate at Palmer Station in Antarctica.af1 She spoke to the students live over video.
